  1. With what little I can tell about the movie from this review I think the point was the characters need to control everything until she thought it was perfect. In Groundhog Day there were something that the character could not change, such as the homeless man’s death. This gave the sense that there was something he was meant to learn and accomplish. In this movie it looks like the character is the driving force in the loop and it doesn’t end until she’s satisfied as a perfectionist. The earrings that are briefly mentioned just enable her.

As for the dating and the character’s mood; these repeating loop stories tend to have a cycle where the character takes a day off, or they neglect one thing to pursue another. Another aspect is that in trying to address one thing it backfires on them and they make it worse. Thus the scenes that were shown. Maybe this movie failed to adequately convey these aspects.
