It still amazes me how souless and annoyingly shrieky the BGC 2040 Dub was when compared to the classic. I had forgotten just how horrible the voices were. What made it infinitely worse was AD Vision was releasing the DVD’s of this show alongside and or staggered with Neon Genesis Evangelion. So the shriek and scream factor was hitting a near critical mass. If you want a good take on this stuff sit through the 8 episode 80’s original version of the series. I never got very far into Tokyo 2040 either, and I’m a huge fan of the original BGC (which is probably the reason why.)

Honestly by the end 2040 gets more whiny and depressing than Evangelion. It’s like every character is Shinji.
