  1. And, unfortunately, the 2D animation studio was as dead as the Dodo after this. 🙁 No wonder Disney keeps adapting Studio Ghibli films. That’s pretty much the “last refuge” for high quality 2D animation left. Heck, it may soon be last refuge for 2D animation period. I think that’s sad not simply because I’m nostalgic and old fashioned…but because you just can’t do everything with 3D animation that you can with 2D. It’s its own “art form”. Even recent movies like “Frozen” and “Big Hero 6” are “close…but not quite there”.

    Speaking of which…

Am I the ONLY person who marvels at the irony in this movie that Idina Menzel plays a young woman who falls in love with a handsome prince and marries him after only knowing him for one day?

    • Well, Disney has just created a new animation form that combines 2D and 3D animation, giving it a very flowing and unique look. It’s called Meander animation and they’ve done it so far on shorts like Paperman and Feast, which I swear to God looks like if Wind Waker was made in 2D.

And nope, I found it surprising, too. In fact, this movie is so foreshadowing that it’s kind of amazing.
