I am extremely into period dramas, I love history, and really always have. I haven’t sat down to watch this show, but after seeing a bit of it on a public access channel recently, it’s something I could get into really easily. While Victorian era shows are more interesting, Edwardian era shows have something else to them that I greatly enjoy.

In Britain, being gay probably wouldn’t have been very fun in 1912, however, if this show happened in France, there would have been almost nothing wrong with it from a social standpoint. Up until only very recently, being gay was sort of a “who cares” thought in France. They were more cutting edge about a lot of their culture. In a Victorian-themed show I recently completed called “The Paradise,” an entire subplot with one of the French ladies who came to England was that she was a lesbian, and everyone pretty much accepted that. Plus, she was a strong character.

Brian Kinney is one of my all time favorite characters. He was such a bad ass, but had flaws and a soft side like everyone else.

And of course, I love you Maggie Smith!!
