  1. So there are only 28 planets in the entire universe that support mortal life? I’m assuming that means sentient races, and not life in general. Even still, seems a bit low. Frieza had a menagerie of different alien warriors in his army, and the universe is in general a pretty big place. Well, I suppose they need to justify having all the old series favourites return somehow, which I’m totally fine with btw.

In any case, it would be nice if they at least acknowledged the existence of Pikkon from the other world tournament arc. I know he’s not part of the manga, but he was pretty cool, and would be an asset to the team I’m sure.

  2. Devil's Advocate

and why aren’t they concerned about the other universes that might be erased, kind of selfish isn’t it?

I’d imagine that it has to do with the line that Goku keeps repeating. “All we have to do is win.” Perhaps he’s certain that with the Super Dragon Balls they can undo any damage, maybe revive those erased (if not the universes themselves)and bring them into U7. And if not that, it may have to do with the fact that Goku and friends (with the exception of Beerus)don’t really know or care about these guys. U7 IS their home, the only place they know. For them, it’s the only place that really matters. Sure, that’s a selfish way to look at it. People are selfish. When faced with the absolute certainty of the deaths of everyone and everything you care about, you make your choices. Strangers be damned.

Goku and the others have been morally outraged and/or sad about strangers dying before.

As far as I recall, not when their families are the alternative. This isn’t a “we have to fight this person that is killing everyone and will eventually come after our loved ones in a challenge we may be able to overcome” situation. It’s a, “there is no fighting this, if we don’t do this everyone we know and love WILL DIE without question, without struggle, no coming back. No other alternatives” situation.

  3. out of an ENTIRE universe only 28 inhabited planets? The Kepler Space telescope has found more planets in the habitable zones of their parent stars in just the past few years, and it hasn’t even looked at a millionth of the stars contained in our own galaxy. Heck I feel like we’ve seen more than 28 alien species in Dragonball so far…though now that I think of it the majority of them featured in filler arcs that Kai cut out or in GT. Though to be fair that number might be referring specifically to planets with a civilization level comparable to the planet Earth, there are probably millions of worlds inhabited by primitive life ranging from bacteria to pre-civilized cave men. Unless Majin-Buu actually did succeed in destroying 99.99999999999999999999% of the entire cosmos before the Supreme Kai was able to stop Bibbity.
