  1. Well.. Lovecraft fans are tricky thing. Because simple truth is that Lovecraft works aren’t easy tor read (especially because of weirdo he publish them originally in amator pulp magazines, and they have only limiter release made by his friends), and generally have heavy quill. But the thing is that most people are interested in his ideas more then in the stories themselves.

That is why Internet is polluted by Lovecraft hipsters who claim that “Cthulhu is best thing ever” (when he is only middle tier great old one relevant maybe in one story) or that “eldritch horror is superior because there is no God and devil in it” despite fact that Yog-Sothoth (aka YHVH) and Nyarlathotep are exactly that.

Most Lovecraft fans originate from fandom of Call of Cthulhu RPG and fan-fiction, because there is also no decent movie or game adaptation (niche genre and low budget). At least direct ones, because only good movies and games adopt only general idea scraping lore itself. So even if Lovecraft himself is respected due to humongous number of references as many good directors are fans of his work, simple but sad truth is that most common “fan-boys” usually didn’t read more then “Call of Cthulhu”. And it is honestly Lovecraft own fault.
