Bouchard's from Montreal btw. This is why Montreal is the only place where you can set a movie where Paul Giamatti dates Rosamund Pike, and it comes off realistic.

I wish football season was still happening so we could get someone to ask Brady about this at a press conference for just a "Hey kid...your welcome!"

    Wingman Level: GOAT.

And yes, she's said she'll go for seconds.

And in case anyone was wondering on the gift: Tiffany Earrings.

The US Women's Hockey Team will boycott the 2017 World Championships (Where they would be defending a Championship title) over Equal Pay (and Equal treatment) Dispute with the Players Association as USA Hockey attempts to assemble team of replacement players

    Statement by the team:

They've also been send this statement of solidarity by the NHL:

As explained in the above ESPN article, US Hockey's effort to assemble a team of "replacement players" who would play in the actual team's place appear thus far to be a complete failure and nobody is returning their calls:

All the NCAA and otherwise eligible athletes who COULD potentially be selected to take part as members of the USWHT as replacement players are posting the same stock message of refusal on their twitters:

US Hockey is now apparently so desperate they're attempting to recruit high school girls:

I wonder how the pay was determined to be unequal.

There's always a wage gap no matter what.

Because it's not the same as the men receive? The NPR article I linked has more information, but this has more:

    http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/24/news/companies/usa-hockey-womens-pay-dispute/

Honestly, in the end it's a LIVING WAGE issue. This is almost EXACTLY what is currently happening with US Women's Soccer in their collective bargaining agreement, and the Hockey Team is actually going for it, and if they win, it'll no doubt embolden the USWNT in Soccer that they can win too in the same route.

No, it's just that if it actually was the NHL, then it would be kind of detailed in determining it since a lot of that is based on contracts, and supported by ticket sales and stuff. I kind of get now that it's not quite the proceeds driven pay structure, but I was also wondering also about the specific pay structure.

Right, and the CNN piece explains it better. Like the issue with our Women's Soccer team though, the larger issue is that we currently devalue women athletes (or in short ATHLETES) who win world championships and represent the very best of what we can do so little that they make embarassing fractions of what their male counterparts make (and receive pitiful comparable treatment as such), and sometimes, the lack of a basic living wage even, and it's a GLARING issue not only for gender equality but basic common sense. I don't know the exact metrics on the Hockey side of things outside of what I'm reading in the current articles, but as I've expressed previously re: Women's Soccer (Something I actually DO follow heavily) on here, the US Women's Soccer team has 3 world cups, is ranked #1 in the entire world, has multiple olympic gold medals and will turn the US Federation a profit in the upcoming years. The men's team is ranked in the 30s, has no world cups, no Olympic medals, and will end up as a financial loss, and yet the men make VASTLY more as repeated failures than the women do as a continued success, and receive much better treatment and overall compensation as athletes. If anything , the USWNT shouldn't only be paid equally, they should be paid MORE. Taking a look at the Women's Hockey past rankings, they also eek out the men's titles in every metric as well.

Sorry, got the impression you didn't believe there's a wage gap.

Here's the original statement of the strike by the way for those that wanted it:

And solidarity from some of their sisters in Soccer:

For the most part, I'm really glad that the alternative team selection just fell through because of solidarity. This kind of sports medium is supposed to be based on competition of the sport and not the attention base. Considering the woman's soccer team, it stresses the issue greatly.

I'm really not sure if winning teams are necessarily supposed to get more money and embellishment, but this is supposed to be a non-profit directive. There's literally no reason an Olympic foundation should be catering to any team above others.

Never mind the fact that US Hockey is insistent that this is just too much to spare when the women are looking for a living wage of 68,000 a year. That is such a complete nothing of an amount to make any kind of serious deal out of.

What I would potentially find really interesting is if the Hockey team being able to use the strike as a bargaining chip (along with the fact that no eligible woman or girl in the US agrees to replace them) to actually be able to get what they want in the CBA negotiations. That could potentially mean that the Soccer team would have the added assurance that a strike may also work for them, BUT, problem is they really waited too long. They missed the Olympics and the She Believes Cup and their next major event is the 2019 World Cup, so they have no major tourney coming they could boycott to make US Soccer take action.

She shoots she scores: US Women's Hockey wins wage dispute, strikes a 4 year new deal with US Hockey

Financial terms not yet disclosed, but it has been announced the new CBA includes the formation of a new group to oversee hockey development for girls and young women in the US. the USWNT will once against compete in the World Championship, which is only days away. Here's a great little op-ed piece on what this means for women athletes in the country by US Championship fencer Natalie Vie

The US's first matchup, US vs. Canada, airs TOMORROW night at 7:30 PM EST on NHL Network. Enjoy.

US Women's Soccer reaches new collective bargaining agreement with the US Federation. Will run through 2021 (including the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Olympiad). Full Details Here and HERE

It's not perfect, but it sounds like it's WAY better than it was. And no doubt Women's Hockey pulling off what they did certainly helped (even if Women's Soccer didn't have the threat of a strike on the table since they didn't have a major event coming up).

    Also, regarding the NWSL:

I've been going back and forth on this, but I've decided to call him Stephen Curry with a long e instead of a short one from now on.
