Is This the Best Joker Death?

Did a kids’ show really have the best ending to one of the greatest villains of all time? Maybe Batman Beyond really was beyond.

  1. I like the censored death more than the uncensored mostly due to the scream the Joker gives out and that it’s a combination of both Tim and Joker’s actions.

  2. This new player is completely broken for me in Safari, Firefox and Chrome on mobile.

  3. So what do you think about Jokers death in The Dark Knight Returns?

  4. If you actually read the Killing Joke, nothing says Alan Moore had any intention of Putting her in a wheelchair. She’s shot in the stomach, not the back, the stomach, and we don’t see her alive again for the rest of the comic.

My hypothesis is that The Killing Joke was written at a time when DC was trying to erase all memoury that the Adam West version ever existed and Batgirl actually first apeared in the comics and the TV series at the same time. But, she was too popular to let her die so they retconned her into a wheelchair.

    • Alan Moore himself has said you’re wrong; he actually wasn’t even sure he wanted to go ahead and have Joker shoot her. He contacted the editor in charge of the Bat-books at the time and asked if he should have Joker shoot her and leave her in a wheelchair, and, according to Moore, the response was, “Cripple the bitch!”

Moore also has stated that, looking back, he hates the story and wishes he’d never written it.

  5. this movie my god! I have seen tons of horror movies before but nothing disturbed me as much as the true sadistic insanity of the joker

  6. I’ve said ti before and I’ll say it again Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are the best comic book writers of our generation.

  7. Gotta go back and watch this movie again, been awhile. Frankly I need to go back and re-watch the entirety of BTAS.

The edited version was not made with tv broadcast in mind- WB backpedalled on releasing the original version after Columbine or something like that. My first copy was a bootleg VHS of a screener. It was some years before the uncut version was finally released on DVD. I basically consider this the TAS version of Death in the Family. And lastly, what really works about this for me are the reversals in the uncut version.

  9. The rest of the movie was good for what it was? Come on, the whole movie was great.

There was a lot of depth in the movie and it did an excellent job of tying together a lot of elements from both Batman: TAS and Batman Beyond.

Throughout all of Batman Beyond, you always wondered what happened between Bruce and the rest of the Bat family. There were some clues but never anything definitive. This movie gave you the answers and gave closure to Bruce. While at the same time, it allowed Terry to truly come into his own as Batman and Bruce finally passes the mantle to him.

  10. you kept saying “batman’s son” throughout the video. I don’t know if you meant his metaphorical son, or what but it wasn’t super clear… just in case though, this was Tim Drake robin, not Damian Wayne robin. you’re not wrong in calling him batman’s son as he’s sort of like a son to batman, but your language in the video made it seem more literal, like maybe you thought it was Damian Wayne or something.

  11. >>>”He makes fun of it”
Oh, but you cut the scene leaving the punch line out!
“It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic… Ah, what the heck, I’ll laugh anyway.”
Joker is such a fascinating bitch.

  12. He is such an awesome villain
I saw both series and the movie so cool
The Teen Titan series i think is a continuation after Jokers death

  13. Can you talk about the MTV series Good Vibes and Daria?

On a side note, I mention this all before, why don’t you review a classic horror like this one I’ve finally found after all these years after just seeing a few scenes of it and never knowing how it ended. It’s called Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama. You might like it. Maybe.

Also what do think of these TV series shows called:
    John Doe
    Forever Knight
    The Misfits (British Show)
Misfits of Science (Movie and series)
    and The Zeta Project
(I think some of these shows are like Sonic the Hedgehog a.k.a. Sonic Sat a.m. They all have incomplete ending.)

P.S. Is there anyway you can review the Japanese versions of Ironman, Wolverine, X-men and Blade? I’d also really like to hear what you think about the FX series Archer and Chozen.

P.S.S. And I never found out if you were going talk more about the Disney Afternoon shows Gummi Bears, Chip N Dale’s Rescue Rangers, Talespin(even the hour uncut movie special I found about it) and Darkwing Duck. Also you never answer my question, If you hate the Goof Troop song: “Gotta Be Gettin’ Goofy” then does that mean you hate The Darkwing Duck Rap?
