Professional voice actors: I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE! Not only are professional voice actors better at vocalizing the characters, but there are some great celebrity voice actors as well, like Crispin Freeman, Steve Blum, Tara Strong, Rob Paulsen, Mark Hamill (although, let’s face it, there’s really only one character they can give him in a Batman movie).

The reason I think that Hollywood animated film producers always seem to go for star power instead of professional experience is because they don’t think that voice acting is a distinct discipline apart from on-screen acting. They don’t really understand the difference. Either that, or they don’t take animation as seriously as they ought.

However, I don’t think the celebrities would like taking a back seat to the lesser-known professional voice actors.

    • But that very thing happened in Zootopia!!! (Kinda)

    • Mark Hamill is a Celebrity yes, but not Crispin Freeman, Steve Blum, Tara Strong, or Rob Paulsen.

      • Are you joking? These are voice actors that people know if they’ve paid any attention to animation at all within the past few decades.

If you mean to say that they aren’t celebrities outside of voice acting, then I’d have to say you misunderstood my point and I’ll forgive you for that. But within voice acting, these people are very well known.

  2. So, how long before he says this is a better Batman movie than Batman v Superman?

    • Dude, its been a year since Superman vs Batman was released, get over it.

    • He never mentioned Batman V Superman in the video. You, on the other hand, have let allowed this BvS thing to take up permanent residence in your head. He’s moved on from BvS, why don’t you?

We get it. You hate the fact that Erod didn’t like a movie that you clearly love. If one person’s opinion of a one particular movie bothers you that much, why are you still here?

    • It is. Because BvS sucked.

  3. Amy Schumer is NOT funny.

  4. I think that the Superman thing was meant to be comic relief and comedy doesn’t always have logic. Haha. I kinda liked the friends are family song. I love cheesy crap. I didn’t have a problem with any of the celebrities either. Also, I didn’t hear about the Han solo movie news. O.O Lastly, I bust a gust at “Amy Schumer as Darkseid”. What?! Hahaha

  5. I hope that Warner Brothers actually makes a Lego Justice League Movie somewhere down the line, and yeah, I’d prefer it the studio employed professional voice actors instead of celebrities, but I know the nature of “The Biz”. Movie execs believe that adults are more likely to go to a movie with celebrities attached to them such as Rosario Dawson and Michael Cera as opposed to Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, John DiMaggio, Tara Strong or Jennifer Hale, because nobody aside from animation geeks like myself know who they are.

  6. Hey Erod, why not get Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey as Supes and WW? They played them before in the Lego games.

  7. so… not joker voice actor? i did watch the movie last week and i was more thinking on Mark Hamill as the joker in the movie… but nope… that was little downside of it.

but the story it was well good 🙂

    • Mark Hamill doesn’t really want to do the Joker anymore. He’s actually retired the character numerous times, and has only come back in those cases where the project in question really caught his attention, like The Killing Joke. To me, he is the definitive voice of the character, but I have to respect the artist’s wishes as well.

      • it is not that voice actor bad in the Lego batman movie. but still i do miss Mark Hamil as voice actor. also i do respect them beside we don’t have entirny life.

  8. Personally, I feel Erod is being overly critical, here. I thought this movie was simply a comedy poking fun at all things Batman. I only have three gripes about it – the movie was not accurate to the commercials (the lego dimensions game is closer, what was with the “Iron Man sucks” thing when the “na-na-na Batman” joke would have been so much funnier?), the “pew pew” gun firing effects where a little much (except when Joker does it, makes sense then.), and there was the “two dads” thing. Which is basically a nitpick since it’s revealed in the end to robin that Bruce Wane and Batman are the same person.

  9. ERod, LIAM NEESON CAN DO COMEDY! Yeez, he nailed GoodCop/BadCop in the LEGO Movie, remember?

Anyway, LEGO has done a Justice League teamup! It’s not a full movie; it’s a one-off thing, but check out Batman Be-Leaguered, which is very much Justice League and Batman trying to resolve their differences. Just for kicks, they also did a one-off short on the Avengers, too. Netflix has both, though I’m sure you could find other sources.
