About Doug Walker

Creator of 5 Second Movies, Nostalgia Critic, Bum Reviews and more.

  1. R.I.P. Doug’s ma. Although, to go along with her point no one who hangs out with me except for one guy knows that I watch Nostalgia Critic due to the cussing. Haha. Still, I have been watching NC videos since my sophomore year of high school. Now I’m a college graduate. I’m glad you’re still around and I’m excited to see more in 2017. ^.^

  2. Thank you for posting this Doug. I’ve been going through a rough time for years. And your video’s are those little moments I look forward to. It helps me get through the tough times.

I can’t tell you how often I watch your Christmas Specials every Holiday. It puts a smile on my face. I wish nothing but wonderful and good things, good health and happiness to you and your entire family. Merry Christmas!

  3. Merry Christmas, Doug. Thanks for the love and more to you!

  4. Love your stuff and thanks for opening up and sharing. Happy holidays back to you.

  5. Sorry that your mom had passed one. You have to be thankful to her, not just because she brought you into the world, but that she didn’t let you see the Garbage Pail Kids film as a kids.

  6. Sorry to hear about your mom, Doug :(. I will definitely step up and say that I am one of the people who have benefited greatly from your Nostalgia Critic videos. I discovered them thanks to a friend I made in college and I’ve been a fan of the show ever since. There were some really rough times for me during my college experience. Due to a very messy family problem, I sunk into a serious depression that popped up on and off during the last three years of college. At its very worst, I considered self harm and suicide and even ended up questioning what was the point of getting up out of bed every day. As silly as it seems, one of the many things that kept me from actually physically harming myself or attempting suicide was the fandoms I was heavily involved in, like the Channel Awesome fandom. I would always talk myself down from the metaphorical ledge by saying “Oh, but then I would miss the next Nostalgia Critic!” or “Oh, but I’ve always wanted to meet Doug in person and I can’t do that if I’m dead!”. Little things like Youtube, a few TV series, and more to the point, Channel Awesome and the Nostalgia Critic kept me on stable ground and gave me at least one thing to look forward to every week, one good reason however insignifcant it may otherwise seem to get up out of bed. You and everyone else on the Channel Awesome/Nostalgia Critic team have been my rock for about 6 years now, and I will always look forward to your next projects 🙂

P.S. I did get to meet you and Rob in person at Zenkaikon in 2015. That was one of the biggest highlights of that year for me :).

  7. R.I.P. Mrs. Walker. Wow, my jaw dropped Doug! I had no idea! I am so sorry! Thanks for the inspiring words though and I wish a merry Christmas your way too! Thanks even more for all your hilarious reviews and insightful tutorials. You always please the extrovert inside me begging to come out.

  8. Merry Christmas, Dong. I am so sorry for your loss.

I think it is very special that you take the time to read those messages and understand their importance. I know watching your videos has helped me at times by just giving me something nice to look forward each week, even when things are stressful. I started watching you when I was in secondary school (High School for you). I am now a married man, a trained lawyer… etc, but still I watch your videos. 🙂

  9. I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Doug. I wish all the strength to you, your brother and your dad as well of course!

I love watching your show. The Man of Steel review was the first time because I watched Angry Joe a lot around that time, and from that moment on I started watching your previous reviews and by now saw them all I think 2 times. It is a brilliant show to watch and pass the time, breaks at work, or trainrides. It always gets a chuckle out of me, and I agree so much with a lot of statements you make about movies and where they go wrong or right.

I also love that with some movies which are hated for some reason, but not really as bad as people make them out to be, you still give your own opinion and also adress the good stuff about those movies. In a world where most people seem to focus on the negative, you also at times focus on the positive, and that is when you are at your best in my opinion. Never stop being one of the best movie reviewers out there!

  10. There were so many great people who died this year. Your mother was one of them! I was hoping you’d read off some stuff, oh! Well, you didn’t feel like it. I spent the season with my folks. How appropriate and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Doug. I’m sure your mom is happily watching you make others laugh. 🙂
(and swearing is funny. Sometimes it depends on the person….but you have ALWAYS made it funny. XD

  12. You swear because it’s the f…ing English language of modernity. Ha see what I did there?

  13. Isn’t Swearing or Cursing the modern language of online English? The Internet is really, really, great for a Black or White skinned Western Anglo-American sailor’s mouth apparently. Russians online also can’t stop their Mat talk, I should know I’m one of them. Merry Christmas Politically Incorrect Doug Walker who’s allowed to be.
