The Deadly Spawn – Brandon Tenold

I tackle the low-budget 1983 monster movie “The Deadly Spawn”, a film supposedly made for only 25,000 dollars!

Yeah, this is a pretty solid 80s horror flick, the creature effects and design definitely make the film. I feel William Birkin from RE2 must’ve been inspired by The Deadly Spawn, at least his final two forms when he’s essential a giant crawling mouth filled with jagged teeth.

Shame that actor scenes are really weak. But still for such “standard” it is impressively solid.

Cool review.

Pretty impressive looking monster and gore for 25k. The blond girl’s line read is actually amazing. The tone here seems pretty consistent, which is tough to do when shooting for something between intentional schlock and truly effective horror/gore.
