The Haunted Mansion Movie Part 1 – Some Jerk w/ Count Jackula & The Horror Guru

Some Jerk With A Camera, Count Jackula and The Horror Guru team up to review the 2003 debacle starring Eddie Murphy of all people.

About SomeJerkWithACamera

Join Some Jerk With A Camera on location at Disneyland, California (and occasionally other theme parks!) for a series of whacked-out, irreverently irrelevant digress-alicious trips through some of the best and worst attractions and paraphernalia theme parks have to offer!

  1. It has arrived!

    • Great part 1 everyone. I have to admit I also dislike the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion. My relatives from Mexico came over during Christmas who never been to Disneyland before so I feel that they weren’t getting the best experience.

Will Calluna have more screen time? Also will the rest of the Geekvision people like Spazzmaster make an appearance?

I wanna know Horror Guru’s secret for quickly growing his hair back. I’m beginning to lose hair myself due to my bald genes..

  2. Crossover Princess

Man you were on the mark of celebrating holidays earlier and earlier…

Yeah, the Haunted Mansion is an awesome ride, I go on it every time I’m a Disney park… hell when I went to the Tokyo Disney Parks I got lucky and during one of the stops (you know so disabled guests and can get on and off) and I ended up stuck in the ballroom scene… The downside is that with the sound off you can hear the machines… but it was still cool!

  3. I know most of the movies based on SNL sketches are bad, but I would’ve loved to see Eddie Murphy in a Mr. Robinson movie.

  4. MidnightScreeningsman2014

Wow this was good and totally worth the long wait. Good video Tony your now definitely my favorite talent all on this site and I loved seeing you and count jackula and the horror guru as a team together reviewing this terrible movie. It’s suxs that they killed you though cheating bastards!!!! Jk live them but how dare they kill(I”m sure there’s a metaphor here somewhere about this movie being about dead people and ghost and your probably gonna turn into a ghost next episode since they killed you and everything but I’m not sure where the metaphor is) but are you gonna be a ghost next episode cause if so then that means that part 2’s gonna take a long time but are you gonna be a ghost?(I don’t think so since you said that the shrek episode was the last time you were ever doing that many effects in one episode but would appreciate it if you gave an answer, please)?

Anyways, live that doggan’s brother was in this as well as calluna and Doug it was cool we could see him again but last question how did you get to Chicago?

If I write this comment any longer then I’ll be writing a story,XD,well good review and this movie gets way worse so hope horror guru and count jackula survive it and you too,I guess but since your dead you probably don’t feel as NY pain.

OK I’m done good review and see ya next time!!!!!

  5. This was a great review guys! But…the Blockbuster Buster actually reviewed the movie before the Nostalgia Critic. Would have been great if it had been him instead at the beginning, and then he could have called up the Critic for the by laws joke.

  6. I love you guys. ^___^

    2:29 whenever I use a smart phone 🙂
4:01 between this and pointing out how everyone does an ‘acknowledging the formula of a crossover’ joke; so much meta!!
6:53 I remember that teaser: creeped me out to no end.
7:40 you’re going to pelt him with candy?
11:25 dang straight: good I hate these films!

    This was…EEEEEEEEEEK!!! When’s the next one: I can’t wait!!!
By the way, how old is some of this footage?

    • SomeJerkWithACamera

We shot Jack & Josh’s in-park material for the episode back in late September/early October 2015. At the time we planned that trip, I foolishly thought I’d be able to finish my Escape From Tomorrow review early enough to at least get Haunted Mansion part 1 out by the end of October, but…that didn’t happen.

      • So have you already got the next episode footage shot at the same tim or will you need to shoot it?

Another epic review….groovey 🙂 Hope it doesn’t take long

        • SomeJerkWithACamera

I still have to get a few pickup shots at the park to reflect some minor rewrites, but all of Jack & Josh’s in-park bits for all three parts were shot within the same three–day span.

  8. Tony is kind of a comedic mad genius.

  9. Oh Jerk, you always bring a smile to my face, and a huge laugh. Especially with both Guru and Jack at your side, nothing could go wrong. (sees end) Well….looks like it’s Friday Night Fright Knights forever on Jerk’s channel.

  10. with a shaved head, Guru looks like Uncle Fester.

  11. I’m surprised you didn’t say you were putting it up for Purim. They do call it “Jewish Halloween,” after all.

  12. MidnightScreeningsman2014

You all need to follow Tony on twitter @tonygoldmark cause he’s 9 follows away from 2000 and if he reaches that he’ll eat a sandwich but only by the end of Easter weekend. Cmon spread the word, plz?

  13. Somebody American’s has been watching International News in an ironic way war-torn Syria f… yeah indeed.

  14. Are fans of the ride like you Jerk racist against Eddie Murphy being in Disney’s The Haunted Mansion? Iean what the freak (don’t feel like dropping the F bomb right now even though I’m used to it when commenting sometimes) this is grade-A borderline honest direct racism just because an over the top Black comedian is in a major Disney live-action movie based off a major Disneyland dark ride, so what if he voiced the little red Chinese dragon saboteur Mushu in Mulan who just kept getting Mulan mostly into needless trouble instead of helping her.

    • SomeJerkWithACamera

It’s because he’s over-the-top, not because he’s black. Haunted house movies depend on subtlety and nuance, and Eddie Murphy is about as subtle as a chainsaw made of screeching cats.

  15. Why is Paul Frees being given credit for grim grinning ghosts? He didn’t write it, that was Buddy Baker and Xavier Acentio. He didn’t perform it, that was Thurl Ravenscroft doing the main melodic line with Jay Meyer, Chuck Schroeder, Verne Rowe, and Bob Ebright doing back up. Paul Frees did the ride narration.

    • SomeJerkWithACamera

iTunes credits it to “The Mellomen, Paul Frees, Betty Taylor, Bill Lee and Thurl Ravenscroft.” Quite the mouthful. The part of it I used in the episode didn’t have any vocals on it, so I picked the voice heard closest to that part.

  16. Good stuff. When is part 2 coming out?

  17. What happened to everyone’s avatars?
