About thecinemasnob

Brad Jones portrays The Cinema Snob, a pretentious film snob who is stuck with reviewing Z-Grade exploitation flicks of the past. I'm a big guy. For you.

  1. I kind of want to see these movies as a double feature now.

  2. It doesn’t quite work as a prequel to BW, because that took place in Maryland, not New England, and Maryland is technically in the South (although nobody there really thinks of it that way). There were Puritans in Maryland (violent, bigoted ones who overthrew the government AGAIN because they hated Catholics and Anglicans so much), but not as prominently or numerously as in New England.

I would kill for a movie where Puritans encountered the Monolith. That would be too awesome. Wouldn’t you pay to see that?!

I’d like to mention, Señor Jones, that I really like that you give fair shakes to religious movies. A lot of people just automatically go, “This sucks because it’s a religious movie and I’m too cool and smart for that,” but you decide they are bad or good depending on how they are actually presented. I actually kinda like the idea of this Roman police procedural, especially since I can only think of one other story that addresses the whole birth of Christianity from the Roman perspective.

    • I can think of one movie where the loving loyal dog makes it: “Bad Moon.” Of course, that dog is also the hero. And ooo, Poltergeist!

It’s a good sign for a horror movie when it can make anything creepy.

The witch sounds like a great movie but I doubt I’ll see it in theaters so I’ll wait till it comes online plus lets hope the goat is voiced by bonetti that’d be such a fourth wall breaking moment.

My dad has interest in seeing risen and I have a regal gift card so hopefully in the next 2 weeks before zootopia opens I’ll get to see it which its nice to see a good Christian movie(but miracles from heaven is the next one so eh!)

  4. I’ve already seen a review for The Witch. I already know that I’m not going to see it.

I haven’t seen any Risen reviews. I had no idea what type of reviews it would get. I was surprised that you said it was comical. I don’t know how I feel about that. I mean, I wasn’t there, of course, but I don’t think the personalities are completely realistic from what you’re saying.

Were the accents REALLY that hard to understand in The Witch? I watched the film and had no trouble understanding the characters. I can see people having a little trouble, but the amount of time you all spend talking about the accents makes it seem way worse than it ended up being for me. Maybe its because I live in the deep south and have had to deal with extremely strong, weird accents most of my life.

  6. Huh, guess Brad would hate to watch a movie with me because I am one of those people who will leave subtitles on a movie even though its in English. Sorry, that is just the way I am XD
