Top 9 Creepy Moments in Kids’ Movies

Here’s a special video I put together for a friend on YouTube: ThatCreepyReading. I read several of the parts he wrote and edited the video myself! I hope you all enjoy!

Man, Watership Down will always be nostalgic to me. I read the book and watched the movie when I was in 6th grade for my GT English class. All us wee little middle schoolers agreed that the story was incredibly fucked up and one kid even shouted “Why isn’t this Rated R?” while we were watching the movie in class. I also watched it at home with my mom and sister over Winter Break after renting it with a Blockbuster gift card I won in a school raffle. My sister would have probably been around 9 at the time since… Read more »

It is worth to point out that there would be upcoming miniseries on Netflix in this year. I seriously hope they don’t screw it..

Watership Down is NOT a kid’s movie. It’s based on a book that is NOT a children’s book, any more than the Lord of the Rings trilogy are children’s books. The movie tried… Read more »

Animation does not automatically mean its meant for children or families. Its an art form, just like live action films, that can be created for a variety of audiences including purely for adults. It’s like the equivalent of if people thought every live action film was meant for all ages and they were all OK for children. This stereotype needs to die and its a horrible pet peeve of mine-I hear and see it all the damn time. Its also why its hard to get more mature animated stories made because people are like “Its a cartoon-must be for children”… Read more »

Unfortunately the stereotype will probably never fully die out. Heck, I watched an interview with Mark Wahlberg when he was promoting the film Ted with Seth MacFarlane and mentioned letting his kids watch Family Guy. When the interviewer was shocked that he’d let his kids watch Family Guy, he rebutted “It’s a cartoon! How was I supposed to know?” I mean, you’re talking to two guys who review anime for a living. If anyone should know that cartoons aren’t just geared for children it’d be us. But, sadly, it’s a tough hurdle to get across and I’m not sure that… Read more »

It sounds like The Adventures of Mark Twain, which Diamanda Hagan just reviewed here a few weeks ago.
