What We Do In The Shadows – Maven

Why does this New Zealand parody work when so many other vampire comedies are flops?

I can certainly see the comparison to Spinal Tap. That movie was about rock stars, who are perceived as and assumed to be mythic, god-like figures, but who in fact turn out to be pathetic, infantile, self-deluded idiots who only have each other and their fantasies of greatness.

Hey, Maven. Hope the family is as great as your work. Keep it up and God bless!

I loved this – I wish WWDITS had more promotion as I only came upon it by accident and no-one I know in the UK had heard of it. It’s a shame that those stupid Twilight parody films were actually seen when something genuinely clever and funny didn’t get the love it deserved. “Being Human” the UK version has a more serious theme but is also funny and one of the best modern versions of a vampire in Mitchell. Worth checking out if you haven’t seen it.

P.S. I have to completely agree with you that Interview with a vampire brought the sexy back….And I’m a guy. That fucking movie….that fucking movie.

Wait, “In The Shadows?” Where’s Todd? So what do they do in the shadows? Maybe review stupid pop songs?

Nazi Vampires? Where’s Police Girl when you need her?

Spoof movies in general were declining. Wow, maybe we’re finally getting good ones again! I never heard of this. It certainly seems like something I should check out. Glad to see an update. I love your voice.
