  1. Snorgatch Pandalume

    So glad it didn’t suck.

  2. handsomefatman

Superhero movies need to ditch male directors.

    • TragicGuineaPig

Shut the sexist SJW nonsense up, uglyfatbastard; nobody wants to hear it.

      • handsomefatman

Not a two way convo. Kindly fuck off.

        • TragicGuineaPig

As I said, no one wants to hear it. Frankly, I’m surprised you didn’t jump all over Stuckman for disliking Ghostbusters, like you did the rest of us who expressed our dissatisfaction with it in that other thread. How dare we think that horribly written piece of trash isn’t a grand paragon of cinema!

          • handsomefatman

I have difficulty imagining how someone could hate women so much, this one line:

“Superhero movies need to ditch male directors.”

Leads to a raging torrent of infantile manchild tears, accusations of “sexism” (something men don’t experience on this continent), and an out-of-nowhere rant about an unrelated film.

Like maybe women hurt you at some point, but none of that justifies your nerdraging.

Now, do me a favor and kindly shut the fuck up. The forum blocklist doesn’t carry over to these comments and you’re so far beneath me you couldn’t kiss my ass if you scaled Babel, so seeing you reply is just irritating at best.

          • TragicGuineaPig

I’m not the one expressing hatred here. You are. You’re the one saying that it is males who have no business in the industry. That makes you the sexist, and me the one calling you out on it.

And since you are the one expressing the sexism, I wonder: did a man hurt you at some point? See? I can play the psychobabble game, too.

Here’s another little bit of psychological thought for you: Eisegesis. Do you know what eisegesis is? It is when someone has to read their own emotional reactions into a text instead of allowing the text to speak for itself. I have yet to ever express any hatred for women. Oh, I’ve expressed hatred of you, but given that your name is “handsomefatman”, I was under the assumption that you were not a woman. And yet, it seems you keep trying to read hatred of women into what I have written. It’s not there, but you keep seeing it. Kind of like those pink elephants or snakes in boots that stereotypical drunk people supposedly see in old cartoons. What you’re doing, handsomefatman, is reading hatred of women into my posts. Which means that the hatred of women actually exists in your own mind, not mine.

I don’t really care what you FEEL about my post. If you can’t actually make a coherent point for your accusations – either here or in that other thread – and if you are only substantiating my own points, then you aren’t really proving anything other than your own fault in this matter. You’re not making your case; just as you couldn’t make your case then.

Bottom line: you’re a sexist asshole, and I’ve called you out on it. If it is not your intention to demean men by expressing that men shouldn’t direct superhero films, then explain what else you could have meant. I’m waiting.

          • I was looking for a new tweet to pin. A screencap of this meltdown will do nicely.

          • Snorgatch Pandalume

By all means, put your meltdown on display for everyone to see. Anyone with a brain will recognize the truth, namely that you’ve fallen into the “victim” trap. You think identifying as a victim gives you carte blanche to be as big a dick as you want to anyone you don’t like. Anything you say or do is automatically validated. Guess what? Being a victim doesn’t automatically make you noble. You can still be an asshole, as you’ve amply demonstrated.

          • TragicGuineaPig

Maybe handsomeorwhatever has a bunch of SJW white knights who will come to his rescue.

          • TragicGuineaPig

Also I have to love the reductionism here: instead of actually addressing anything I’ve said, he’s basically reduced it all down to some kind of “meltdown”, as if his failure to argue against my points constitutes some sort of psychological deficiency on my part. That’s not how arguments work: I make a point; you counter it. Not I make a point, and you dismiss it out of hand because where it all leads doesn’t fit your own personal interpretation of the world.

          • Chicken Puppet

            handsomefatman = obvious troll

          • And maybe everyone should just stop feeding the troll? There are like 20 posts of bickering flooding this video’s comments section where there would otherwise just be one idiotic post from a troll if people just ignored him.

Seriously, stop giving him the attention he wants. This is getting kind of old.

          • TragicGuineaPig

On one hand, I agree with you, Dena: there’s almost no point in trying to argue with the kind of toxic white knight troll that handsomefatman is.

But on the other hand, the whole “Ignore him, he’ll go away eventually” doesn’t seem to be working, either. Even now, he’s already posting more toxic man-hating spew on other threads.

What it does is shut down actual intelligent conversation about these topics. People are asking questions about these subjects in other reviews of this film, and as per usual, HFM is already posting his toxic white knight nonsense on them. Which gives me a choice: either respond with my own thoughts on the topic and be accused of feeding the troll, or refrain from posting and not addressing the questions being raised by others.

The “Ignore him, he’ll go away eventually” would make perfect sense, if he were actually going away. But that doesn’t look to be the case. ON the contrary, he seems to be getting even more beligerant in his anti-male rhetoric.

          • TragicGuineaPig

We should play that video clip Derek the Bard and HeIsAnEvilGenius used in their recent live video.

          • TragicGuineaPig

Oh, I’m sorry. Maybe the “hatred of women” you keep talking about is in my own post below. You know, where I posted about how I had been a fan of Wonder Woman since the Lynda Carter days; how I liked her portrayal in the old Justice League animated series; how I hoped that they would give her a GREAT movie, because she deserved it, and that I hoped DC wouldn’t screw it up. I mean, wow! That’s some first class misogyny there! I might actually even go as far as to say that I respected Gal Gadot for her military service! If that isn’t proof of how much I hate women, nothing is!

(That last bit is sarcasm, in case you missed it).

          • Snorgatch Pandalume

He wasn’t expressing hatred of women. You were expressing hatred of men. Your comment that men don’t experience sexism on this continent says it all: you can express as much hatred of men as you want without being guilty of sexism (at least in your own mind) because according to you, sexism against males doesn’t exist, ergo, hating men isn’t sexist. Nice bit of self-serving rationalization there.
Websters defines sexism as: “prejudice or discrimination based on sex.” It goes on to state that this especially concerns discrimination against women, but doesn’t limit it to just that the way you do. I don’t think any sensible person would disagree that discrimination against women has been and is more prevalent, but there’s nothing in the term itself that limits it to just that.

    • Well, there’s always going to be male directors and some should depending on the hero. But more lady directors? Sure.

    • Chicken Puppet

Better idea: Superhero movies need to ditch bad directors and hire good directors. The gender of the director is irrelevant.

  3. TragicGuineaPig

Wonder Woman is a great character, and deserves a great movie. Not a good one, a great one. I’ve been a fan of the character since the Lynda Carter days, and loved her in both the Justice League animated series and in her own animated film.

But while the character does deserve a great film, considering how Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman turned out, I was deeply concerned about how this was going to turn out.

But, Stuckman, you do have a tendency to rate things a little high, so I’ll reserve judgment when the movie comes out. I really do hope it’s as good as you say.

Yes, let’s not discuss Ghostbusters again. Seriously, if the movie hadn’t been a deliberate attempt at a slap-in-the-face to men, they probably could have written a decent film. I am so glad to hear that Wonder Woman didn’t go that route.

I’m going to have to cut you off since I don’t want any spoilers. It’d be a shame for the first GOOD DC film to be ruined for me going in. Catch you all later!

      • TragicGuineaPig

Resorting to the “LA LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR I CAN’T HEAR!” tactic again, I see. You know what might have been helpful? If you actually addressed anything I said in my post. But I suppose for that, you would have actually had to have read it.

      • Chicken Puppet

You are a terrible parody of an “SJW” (I hate that term) – but you go beyond any reasonable debate and into crazy-land. You must be doing bad performance art.

But what makes you the worst sort of troll, is that you can’t even attempt to defend what you must know are silly and obviously attention-grabbing points.

  4. I have my tickets. This is the first DCEU movie that every single one of my friends agreed to see with me. I think I’ll like it since I liked Suicide Squad and this appears to be better than that. Plus, I like hammy characters (bonus points for villains). However, if there isn’t an after credits or mid credit scene, it will lose a point with me for that personally.

  5. Chicken Puppet

So glad you enjoyed it Chris. A lot was riding on this film like: Will Hollywood admit you can do a big budget female superhero movie (answer should have been yes from Kill Bill)

Also can the DC cinematic universe course correct and make something good from the shaky groundwork of the last few films?

    So far, so good!

  6. If you’re legit upset about Wonder Woman woman-only film screenings, you’re probably an asshole.

^ That’s squarely aimed at assholes, btw. Replies, lack thereof, and thumbs aimed either up or down will be considered agreement.

  7. Were you in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China Chris? Because that’s where the premier officially was on the 15th of May.

  8. Where the hell do you find all these early screenings Mr. Stuckmann?

  9. Colourful? I keep seeing all these images from this movie drained of all colour except teal. Are you saying there really is colour? I hope so!
(NB: I do know Themyscira looks different; but you said ‘in every scene’.)

I’m also glad you said ‘It doesn’t make me hate myself for being a man like Ghostbusters did’ (or words to that effect), because Matthew Buck’s review of Wonder Woman made me worried it’d do exactly that – but I didn’t get that out of Ghostbusters, which tells me you’re even more sensitive to that stuff than I am. And you didn’t see it in Wonder Woman. Yay!
