The nostalgic video game got a movie, and by God does it not fly. The Nostalgia Critic takes a look at this rotten egg of a flick.

About Doug Walker

Creator of 5 Second Movies, Nostalgia Critic, Bum Reviews and more.

  1. Are those kind of reviews going to be a thing now?
I mean, if we finished the “nostalgia” bit of the nostalgia critic maybe i’ll stop watching the show. Idk I don’t wanna sound like a jerk but it’s more & more reviews that aren’t either nostalgic or very good.

    • The Real Silverstar

If your sole criteria for watching these videos is “Is the movie Doug is covering old?”, then I have to question how much of a fan of these you were in the first place. The “Subject matter must be 10-20 years old” rule has been relaxed for a considerable while now, ever since ‘The Review Must Go On”, plus said rule was never etched in stone to begin with, so complaining about that at this point is frankly kind of silly and pointless and amounts to nothing more than crying over spilled milk.

The fact of the matter is that what’s considered “old” or “nostalgic” is and always has been subjective; it varies from generation to generation, from decade to decade or even year to year. What a person is nostalgic for depends on when they grew up and/or what they watched and were/are a fan of. No one’s life experiences and personal tastes are exactly the same, so everyone’s not going to be universally nostalgic for the same things.

If you don’t find NC videos entertaining anymore, that’s one thing, but the “these aren’t nostalgic!” complaint is just superficial and ridiculous.

  2. Jeremy G. McLaughlin

Nine years to produce a 2016 film based on a 2009 game. The critic has not learned how to improve his arithmetic since End of Days.

    Forget another Top 11 Fuckups…He needs a Top 33!

  3. Surprised you didn’t mention the theories that the movie is alt-right anti-immigration propaganda. Yes, those exist.

  4. The fact that this wasn’t a clipless review makes up for the fact that this is barely past the nostalgic timeline. Although, any review with “A FAAAAMM-LAY PITCH-CHA” is going to be pretty good. But… I’m not going to lie. I’m kinda glad that that hugging bird finally got a hug. I don’t know why but I just do.

  5. So still no review on Casper Meets Wendy, yet you’ll review ANOTHER movie released in the last 5 years.

    • It amazes me how many so-called fans continually expect these producers to take their personal requests for free. They clearly have no idea what the process is for making a video nor do they know what kind of schedules the content creators have. It’s always just “review this thing that I like/hate, Doug”, like they’re ordering from the drive-thru at a fast food joint.

It’s doubtful that Doug even reads these comments, and I don’t get where this sense of entitlement is coming from when you’re not offering him a dime in return. Stop acting like Doug owes you a review of a movie that you want to see him do. He’s given you hundreds of hours of entertainment for free. He doesn’t owe you jack squat. If it were me, I wouldn’t dignify such a demand with a response.

Again, if you want to see Casper Meets Wendy reviewed so badly, why not write a script, get a camera and make your own review of the movie?

  6. Angry Bird? A nostalgic game? It came out around the same time as smartphones, and those aren’t old… Are they?

  7. 16:03 yeah, it’s called “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic”
