Probably the only film I’ve ever seen which portrays gnomes as “rock fairies” as opposed to “little guys in hats with beards”.
In terms of the stop-motion of them, I love the fact that their faces never seem to “gradually change expressions”, like smiling, frowning, grinning, etc. What happens is their entire set of features shifts and reforms and…huzzah! A new facial expression!
