  1. I’m a Prequel Trilogy apologist.

  2. I love Aiyanna’s hair. O.O I’m on Jason’s side for the most part. However, the first episode sucks, the second episode is okay, and the third episode is pretty good. I can’t tell the difference between CGI and practical effects (except for Yoda). I don’t care about the CGI and practical effects. Yes, I love love love Amidala’s outfits. One last thing: I like how Jim was getting red a little bit.

    • Believe it or not, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has more VFX shots than any of the Star Wars movies.

      • If it’s true, That’s a testament to better integration of effects. I think that was the strongest film of the Whedon-era Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Possible exception of original Iron Man.

      • Yes,and?

Look, the problem with the prequels is not that they have cgi,its that they have BAD cgi.I always say this:Look at terminator 2,its computer effects are still good even today,20+ years after the movie was made. The prequels cgi wasnt good even when they were made, let alone today.

MikeJ already did this. His conclusion was . . . no.
BTW, I’m not watching this, because I don’t need to hear anyone talk about those three movies ever again. There is literally nothing anyone can say about them that hasn’t already been said a thousand times. Seriously, give it a fucking rest.

    • I disagree with Mike J, and to a lesser extent James Rolfe who also did a video on exactly this topic recently.

I re-watched the prequels again just before “The Force Awakens” with someone who hadn’t seen the prequels ever, but was familiar with the original trilogy.

Our conclusion was that the first two were generally dull and filled with plot threads and side characters that did little to advance the story or build a more interesting world. Child Anakin was an oversold Marty Stu in the Phantom Menace while Jar Jar just annoys you. The second act of The Clone Wars grinds to an uninteresting halt and never recovers only to get bogged down further with the stilted romance. Not even Christopher Lee as a Sith Lord could save it.

I do agree with James Rolfe that the Revenge of the Sith was a decent movie and the only one you need to see to get the gist of the entire prequel trilogy and Vader’s tragic fall to the dark side.

    • Discussion should always be encouraged.

  4. Personally speaking, yes, the prequels absolutely suck. But I won’t hold it against you if you enjoy them.

  5. I know I’m the minority here, but I like the prequels. Yes, they are by no means good movies, and they are filled with flaws, but I acknowledge those flaws.

My personal philosophy is that a perfect movie does not exist. So, I find you have to ask, “does a film’s flaws hinder my enjoyment of the film?” And for the prequels, for me, that’s a no.

  6. People really need to stop kicking this dead horse. Nothing more can be said that Redlettermedia didnt already say in those 3 brilliant reviews. The prequels sucked and they have aged even worse.

    • Pretty much.Anyone who argues otherwise is simply delusional.

Now can you enjoy them despite their crappiness?Of course.Bad movies can be fun, theres no denying that. But just because you enjoy something does not make it good, nor does your enjoyment of bad things make you a bad person.Theres no shame in enjoying schlock. But there is plenty of shame in trying to justify your enjoyment of schlock by trying to prove that its some diamond in the rough.

      • Obvious troll is obvious. Everybody knows art is subjective.

      • Snorgatch Pandalume

Anyone who disagrees with you is delusional, huh? So you’re the ultimate arbiter of what is and is not good? People like and dislike things for all sorts of reasons. How dare you tell someone they’re delusional for liking something you don’t. Who the fuck do you think you are? Fuck you, you conceited asshole.

    • I have the perfect rebuttal towards Mr. Plinkett’s Phantom Menace review.

I’m not surprised that RLM would do a shoddy job of analyzing The Phantom Menace. While they can be quite funny, they’re not very insightful and sometimes just come off like a bunch of obnoxious drunken frat boys.
Recently they reviewed a movie in which Dom DeLuise did the voice of a talking skateboard (just go with it), and spent about ten minutes making jokes about Dom DeLuise being fat. Dom DeLuise was a sweet and funny man (much funnier than any of the RLM crowd), and their surprisingly mean-spirited attacks on him (mainly by Mike) seemed really uncalled for (especially when some of them–like Mike–aren’t especially trim themselves), not to mention being painfully unfunny, crude, and in very poor taste.

  7. I knew there was a reason I liked Jason.

  8. Yes. The dialogue is shit, the plot is shit, the acting’s shit…

That said, if you like it, go ahead and like it! Trust me, I’ve loved some shit movies in my time. Doesn’t make them not shit, though.

  9. yes. they suck. tie saved. next video.

  10. Rogue One counts as a Prequel so No they don’t all suck, In fact we FINALLY have a 4th Bona Fide Star Wars Movie!
