I really liked this movie. I guess I can see why you might not have liked it, but I thought it was really funny. For instance, I loved the cheese bomb joke for how over the top it portrayed the opening of a bag of chips. Have you never been suddenly hit by that cheesy goodness smell upon opening the bag of chips?
Doug, there’s more to humor than just the misery aspect. Being over the top with how something is portrayed is a good example. But if you enjoy seeing other people miserable all the time…then good for you, just know that some of us who are laughing at things like a bag of chips being opened with a shot from space are getting and seeing something that you aren’t. It didn’t work FOR YOU, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work PERIOD. You’re just looking for something that isn’t necessarily everywhere in funny stuff.
Hell YEAH the bag of cheesy chips being opened was funny! True, they probably shouldn’t have done the shot from space as they were going to “up it” at the end of the movie. It should have been just a shot of the neighborhood instead of from space and it could have worked just fine.
Aside from that I think that film critics weren’t the target audience for this flick so not everyone will get it. I haven’t seen it since I saw it in theaters years ago and this quick review reminds me how good it really was. I might just go out and buy a copy. 😀
Thanks Doug.
