I’m a bigger fan of Brotherhood than I am of the first FMA anime. Mostly because I saw that series first.

There’s a lot going on in either the manga or the two animes, so I have a hard time thinking they can do a feature-length adaptation of all that content. I’m having The Last Airbender flashbacks over here.

I think you mean “relegated” instead of “regulated.”

    • I’m more of a fan of Brotherhood as well, mainly because it followed the manga, and that it wasn’t unnecessary depressing as the 2003 series.

    • Well.. Brotherhood is simply objectively better. It is why they made a reboot immediately after first anime become popular (same with the Hellsing Ultimate).

Also I just watch movie and.. quite decent for Japanese LA adaptation what tend to suck. This one definitely its own story mostly skimping adventure stuff and focusing on main intrigue. Also from what I see it is generally different story, though I can’t say that for sure as due to existence of two versions of this story I don’t remember now what was where. Anyway, good watch but don’t expect honest adaptation of anything.

There are some things I liked about the first Hellsing anime. Sure, the plot degenerated into a mess by the end, but that’s largely because the writers didn’t have any idea where the manga was going, and were just trying to fill in the gaps. The tone was creepier and more serious than Ultimate. Frankly, I would love to see another Hellsing anime, one that incorporated the big plot of the manga and Ultimate, while at the same time, fleshing things out and building up the world a bit more before the big battle begins.

But as we all know, there’s only one definitive version of Hellsing: the Abridged Version! Because we all know how much female vampires appreciate their heavy firearms!

  2. Wait, they make LA version? Ok.. to watch!

  3. I think whole plot-point with fake priest creating monsters could be explained by that those being a golems. So basically a puppets sported only by the will of alchemist. Yes, I agree that it was bad decisions in general, but because they were clearly made from rock it didn’t bother my that much.. that Ed prosthetic somewhat is electric on the other hand was weird. But yeh, nitpicking.
