My Little Pony: The Movie – Cinemasnob

In this conclusion of Musical March in September, The Cinema Snob finds out that if you smooze you lose.

About thecinemasnob

Brad Jones portrays The Cinema Snob, a pretentious film snob who is stuck with reviewing Z-Grade exploitation flicks of the past. I'm a big guy. For you.

  1. I am not a Brony, and I haven’t watched any version of MLP, but my sister collected some of the toys, and saw this movie, while I was busy watching & collecting Transformers, as well as watching the 1986 animated movie, which I first saw after first finding it at my local library.

0:59- Thank God you’re not reviewing THAT this week.

    3:12- FUCK YOU, DINGO PICTURES!

Queen Hidea and her redneck daughters makes me feel like I’m watching an animated remake of “Mother’s Day.” At least the daughters aren’t bitching about punk music and disco.

    7:39- BUSHWHACKED!

11:15- Thank you so much for that image, Brad.

13:21- (Suddenly surrounded by mystical aura, and shake self off after aura goes away) Wow. That was cosmic.

15:13- With the way you give your own names to the ponies, makes me wonder what names you give to the Transformers.

16:17- Nice “To Boldly Flee” joke. BTW, why were you okay with going into space in a house when you’re afraid of flying?

    19:27- Pff. Racist.

22:16- You took that line from the Nostalgia Chick’s review on this movie. I know, because I just watched it before this.

As you may predict, I won’t be seeing the newer MLP movie, because I’ll be waiting for the Bumblebee movie to come out.

  2. What the hell is a “Moive”??

  3. I saw this movie back when I was a kid. And honestly I thought it was entertaining for what it was. The stakes were high and there was a sense of urgency.
The only problem was that the witches had more character and problems to overcome, which made it confusing on whom to root for.
You can also probably guess that I’m a fan of the new series and I’ll be seeing the new movie coming out.

“I’m a fan of the new series and I’ll be seeing the new movie coming out.”

I’m sure a lot of people will, not me though. I watched the new MLP for a little while but then I got bored with it. To be honest, I was never a huge fan of it even then. I don’t think MLP’s terrible, but I’ve never understood why people are so into it; IMO there are other shows, like New Looney Tunes, which are actually worth wanking about, but to each his/her own.

      Some pointless trivia:

-MLP: The Movie marked the debut appearances of Meagan’s previously unmentioned younger siblings, Danny and Molly. Of the 3 human characters, Danny was the only one not to get made into a toy.

-Tony Randall reprised his role of The Moochick (no kidding, that was really his name) from the 1st syndicated MLP special, “Rescue at Midnight Castle”.

-The Bushwoolies (those little dust bunny things) first appeared in the 2nd MLP TV special, “Escape from Katrina”.

-In the original TV specials, this movie and the syndicated ‘My Little Pony ‘n’ Friends’ series, Spike the dragon was voiced by Charles Adler, who’d go on to voice Buster Bunny and a ton of other characters.

      • You know quite lot trivia for not a fan. I would like to say this same about many Bronies who still didn’t watch Rescue of Midnight Castle despite fact that it do explain major evens mentioned in the show.

“You know quite lot trivia for not a fan.”

I know quite of lot of trivia, period, Teddy Brosevelt. It’s my thing. And no, I’m not a closet Brony who’s putting up a front to hide his fandom, if that’s what you’re implying, because that would also imply that I care what you think.

I’m an animation enthusiast; I do watch, have watched and will continue to watch a lot of cartoons. I find the world of animation fascinating, and so I make it a point to know as much as I can about cartoons. I was a teenager in the 80’s and the specials and the show were on, so I watched them, and I’m a trivia buff, so I picked up some knowledge of the franchise, but that doesn’t make me a super-fan of it. Both Brad and Lewis Louvhaug have each made videos about various MLP related works, so going by your definition that also makes them Bronies.

I don’t have to be crazy into MLP in order to know stuff about if. Furthermore, If I were a fan of this franchise, I would have no problem saying so, ‘cause my whole life I’ve always just watched whatever interested me and have never given a crap about who knew about it or what audience it was supposedly aimed at. Thus your pathetic attempt at a burn has failed miserably.

          • “because that would also imply that I care what you think.”

Well you seemed to care what I thought, to give me an entire essay about how you got bored with the show, don’t understand why people are into it, and that everyone should love The Looney Tunes Show instead.

So it really seems to me you DO care what other people think.
This is also why I don’t reveal my love of the show on other Internet sites, because I get these kinds of replies, only yours was without the Fa- word.

          • The Real Silverstar

            Wow, someone needs a hug.

Seriously, relax. Nothing I said in my original comment was aimed at you specifically, so I don’t know why you’re taking offense. My second post was in response to Rezro’s comments, not yours. I have no issues whatsoever with you, but if I touched a nerve, I apologize; it was not my intent.

To clarify, so we’re not quibbling over terms: I wasn’t “giving you an essay”, I was commenting on the video, which is what I was led to believe this section of the site is for. Nor at any point did I “tell everyone they should love The Looney Tunes Show instead”; first, I was referring to NEW LOONEY TUNES, not The Looney Tunes Show; they’re 2 different series. Second, I’ve just had lunch, so I’ll appreciate you not putting words in my mouth. I have never, and would never, tell anyone what they should think; I only tell people what *I* think; what I said in that post was *just my opinion*, hence why I stuck an ‘IMO’ in that sentence.

I wasn’t making fun of you for liking MLP: FiM. I would never do that. It’s not my thing personally, but if you dig it, that’s cool. My tastes are very eclectic, so I’m the last person to criticize what other folks are into. Heck, one of *my* favorite shows of late is Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse, so I’m not about to throw stones at someone else.

          • “I was commenting on the video, which is what I was led to believe this section of the site is for.”
You replied to my comment, which is why yours is under mine, and you put my last line in a quote. Why would I not think that comment was directly at me?

          • The Real Silverstar

So now you’re calling a liar? Nice.

Look dude, I explained my case and said I was sorry if I offended you. What more do you want? An apology cake? Get over it and move on already. I’m done discussing this; if you still want to be butt-hurt about a comedy video about a kids’ cartoon, then that’s your prerogative, but you’ll be doing it alone.

          • Uh…because it wasn’t. The line that was quoted was:

“You know quite lot trivia for not a fan.”

Did *you* type that? I don’t think that you did. I’m pretty sure was Rezro, unless my laptop is lying to me. Basically, what’s happening here is that you’re upset about a comment that was directed at someone else. That’s all there really is to it. Plus, he told you that he wasn’t insulting you or your taste in TV shows. Other than have the Momenshunz mine troupe come over to your house and act it out for you, I don’t know how much clearer he could make it.

This is none of my business, of course, but if you guys are going to argue, at least make sure that everyone’s got their facts straight before doing so.

          • I was talking about the first reply he sent, you know… the one that’s under my original comment that has the 13 hours on it.

          • Yeah, *that* was a reply to your original comment, but the rest of it was directed at Rezro’s remark. And his response was directed under Rezro’s.

          • No it wasn’t, Rezro didn’t comment until after his first reply.
I hope you’re not getting confused about when I took that quote of his about not caring what somebody thought.

          • The Real Silverstar

For the last time: YES, my original post was in direct response to you saying that you were going to see the new MLP movie, BUUUT–and read this carefully now–the rest of my post was NOT, repeat, NOT, a criticism or an indictment of you or your fandom for this show. I was merely responding to that last part and adding my own experience and opinion of the new show thusly. That’s all. Then Rezro attempted to clown me, so I had to represent, THEN you assumed that I was taking aim at you and you got all upset, and we all know what happens when we ASS-U-ME. I can’t explain myself any more plainly than that. I was NOT insulting or attacking you; I’ve told you that THRICE now. I’ve been trying to bury the hatchet on this, because I’ve read your previous comments on other videos and I *do* respect you, but you just seem to want to be mad over something you THINK I said. Frankly, I think it’s stupid how an obviously intelligent adult is flaming out over something so stupid and trivial.

Believe whatever you choose to believe, but I’ve personally wasted more than enough time on this. Good day, sir.

          • Hey hey hey, I didn’t want to continue this, I was happy to leave it at apology cake. Untill Goldstar butted in.

          • You say “butt in”, I say “attempt to clarify”. Potato, po-tah-to.

But hey, it’s fine. I’ll be the bad guy here if it means that you two won’t be a-fuedin’ and a-fussin’ anymore.

          • No No, if anyone has to be the bad guy, it’s me.
I’m personally responsible for this getting out of hand. No one should demean themselves because of me.

          • “I’m not a closet Brony who’s putting up a front to hide his fandom”

I didn’t intend to say anything like that. Thanks for Goldstar for explaining that.

  4. Really funny review.

Cinema snob, Phelous, and Allison must team up for another review soon! You’ve all become S-ranked shitty movie riffers!

  5. This movie is “prettiest” (aka not that shitty) looking movies until FiM, but it isn’t that lore significant. Rescue from Midnight Castle despite all its flaws is quite impotent as Lauren Faust originally intend to remake it. Just for licence reasons she get TV show instead.
