Wheeler…? With a Brooklyn accent…? Is this some bizarre coincidence? (With Joey Wheeler from the 4Kids dub of Yu-Gi-Oh.)
I never saw this (or even heard of it) as a kid. I first heard about it a few years ago and tried a few episodes. I wasn’t that into it and can’t even remember much about the ones I saw. It surprises me that a kid’s show would talk about AIDS. I had no clue what that was until I was in high school. The Critic getting hit in the head with a ruler every time he said that word was funny, the creepy moment when putting on the wrong ring was cool and the response to putting on the right ring was funny. But I didn’t care much for the Ma-Ti part. It was just annoying and not funny.

…they unleash Captain Planet, who kind of looks like Silver Surfer’s gay brother who has a summer home in Malibu.
