I don’t know why someone hasn’t done version of the funnier angle of a murdered animal sent back as a human to solve the crime, as in the 1951 comedy YOU NEVER CAN TELL starring Dick Powell.
Well, this movie is certainly an embarrassment for Chevy Chase, Jane Seymour, and Omar Sharif. And the scene with Benji and Jane Seymour in the bathtub is even weirder if you know that the dog playing Benji is female (she was the daughter of the original Benji). Yay lesbian bestiality! And WTF is an American doing working as a private investigator in London anyway?
4:34 clip from the next LLyod episode, nice sneak in Brad 😉
14:59 well I’m pretty sure there was a lassie movie starring Peter Dinklage in the 90s and you could make good Tyrion and Game of Thrones jokes but theres not any part where lassie calls someone a fucknut.
I knew that the owner was gonna get killed but not gonna come back to earth as a cat and get in a relationship with benjo the dog and your right, seriously what the fuck Hollywood. Believe though that I saw this film on a razzie forum but couldn’t remember it until this review so thanks brad
I’m sorry but I was a major Paul McCartney & Wings fan growing up, and the rainy opening to this movie is all I remember with it. I’m sorry to hear that such a weird film followed suit to one of my obscure favorite songs.
The best thing this movie did was provide for a funny line in Married with Children.
Al: “So what’d you get from the video store, Predator? Terminator? (looks at box)…. Oh, Heavenly Dog?! Peg, I wanted Schwarzenegger!
Peg: “So did I, but I got you and you got Beta.”
after shouting “what kind of fucked up ending is this” you should have put in a clip of that video where a dog was knotted in a cat, it turns out they DO do that if you leave them unsupervised long enough…for context’s sake that video was shared with me on facebook, there is NO combination of words I ever put into google that came up with THAT as a search result.
On the movie poster at 8:35 it says “See Benji as the August Playgirl centerfold”. … Wut?
you want to know the worst part when this film was made Benji was played by an Bitch an female dog sired by the first animal actor. so chevy chase was doing an voice over for an female dog playing an male dog.
For you folks who keep going on and on about Benji being played by a female dog – you do know it’s male dogs that played Lassie, who’s suppose to be a girl dog, right? This is nothing new in Hollywood.
I just want to know how the heck Benji got to England when animals from America are suppose to be quarantined when they get there.
Unless you fly in from Florida, apparently, because that state does the shots England requires. However that’s a recent development. It didn’t apply back when this movie was made.
wow am I old If I saw this in theatres
Well, simply put “Cinema Snob” :-), that I do think that you’re doing a great and funny job with your reviews there, and especially with yours about both religious movies and past movies, and I’m also hoping that you’ll also consider, after your next and more recent review, about you maybe also going for the angel movies, like the okay or somewhat good “Heavenly Kid” and the more ridiculous and annoying and more “chick flick” like “Michael”, huh friend ;-). >Danny<
