Haven’t seen The Beyond, but I have seen From Beyond, which is a great Stuart Gordon Lovecraftian horror flick, with some excellent gooey 80s practical effects.
Oh man, I love that movie! Diamanda Hagan reviewed it here a couple years ago, along with the rest of the Stuart Gordon/Jeffrey Combs/Barbara Crampton/H. P. Lovecraft trifecta: Re-Animator and Castle Freak.
I’ve seen Re-Animator, however I have not seen Castle Freak. Will have to check it out.
Here’s something funny. when Bravo channel had that five part special The 100 Scariest Movie Moments back in 2003, The Beyond got their number 60 spot, but their first commentator seemed to be describing the opening of From Beyond!
Finally, after countless references and jokes based on The Beyond, we finally get to see a review on the movie. Now when are we gonna get that Rats review? Oh, BTW, bitchin’ show opening.
5:59- Yeah, I can buy that Trump would do this shit if Twitter didn’t exist, …or his account is rightfully shutdown.
10:42- Um, …since the day he was born, maybe?
12:17- HEY, don’t you DARE poke fun of a Scott Bakula TV series. Do you want Lupa to punch YOU in the face?
13:07- Is it just me, or is that orderly wearing blackface!?
18:13- This scene is like if The NeverEnding Story was a horror film.
19:52- Nice alternative fact, Brad.
23:03- He sounds like Vigo from Ghostbusters 2.
What is the dude’s problem for not shooting zombies in the head first?
I like the artwork of the big box VHS. It reminds me a lot of the artwork in the Watchmen comic within the comic, “Tales of the Black Freighter.”
So the movie ends with the two main characters in hell. How romantic!
Also, tarantulas don’t work that way!
