  1. I haven’t seen this and I hadn’t heard of it until the sequel came out. After seeing this review, I really don’t want to see it because I imagined that it was kinda like the British version of The Hangover. I don’t know where I got that impression but there you go.

    • It’s like if someone mashed up the cautionary tale elements of Kids, with the politics and crime elements of Boyz N the Hood, splashed shit all over it and set it in Scotland.

  2. Tamara seems surprised people like this movie. It’s well received because it’s a serious film with good performances, and a gritty, no-holds barred look at poverty and addiction.

    It looks “dated” because it was supposed to depict a very specific time, region, and subculture. Even the soundtrack is specific to it’s time and culture.

  3. I saw it for the first time last year and I *loved* it. This is a film, man. More love for Jonny Lee Miller, who is terribly underrated.
