I am glad to hear that (1) we actually have a good DC film. Prospects since The Dark Knight haven’t been great. (I thought Man of Steel was okay for what it was, but there is something not quite Superman-ish about it).

And (2) Wonder Woman finally has her own film. As one third of DC’s “Holy Trinity”, it’s been a long time coming; she deserves her place alongside Superman and Batman. And I’m glad that she’s got a GOOD film, and not a mediocre attempt like MOS and BVS.

I still plan to reserve my own judgment until after I’ve seen it myself, and I’m still trying to avoid spoilers, but I am glad to hear that reviewers whose opinions I respect are largely leaning heavily toward the “Like” range.

  2. Actually, they’ve made four. Oh, wait, you’re talking “objectively”. .|..

  3. That comic book artist is Alex Ross

  4. It would be perfect if there was an after-credits scene. I liked all the acting and even the hammy ones were enjoyable. Gal is a great Wonder Woman. The WW theme is kick butt. It was an equal amount of DC dark and comic-esque colors. The action was amazing. The story was simple but good. I was surprised you didn’t like the effects and that you don’t remember Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America. (SPOILERS onward) I thought the General WAS Ares until the twist. The romance wasn’t dwelled on. I like Thor but this is better than Thor 2. Also, I think that I’m ok with Wonder Woman killing (she was probably taught killing) and with sad Batman doing it. Plus, thanks to Rob with your point on Zack Snyder. Lastly, I’d TOTALLY watch a Mamma Mia-Wonder Woman crossover. Another thing: I don’t care about relatable or super empowering heroes. Be nice and be fun. Last thing: My friend thought it was odd that the soldiers hugged.

  5. Nah, I won’t watch it no matter what. I won’t pay to watch something that’s leading actress is a murderer.

Correction: I think the term you’re looking for is “military veteran.” So unless you’ve got some court-proven evidence that Ms. Gadot has killed anyone that she was not actively engaging in open combat, or has committed some grave violation of the Geneva Convention, then you’re blowing smoke out your butt and no one wants to hear it. Good day to you.

As for me, I can’t wait to proudly plunk down my cash for this one.

Also, it seems kind of strange to me to repudiate the lead actress for her military experience, when the character herself is a WARRIOR.

      • Considering what Israeli soldiers do to Palestinians, I doubt her service was for anything noble. So, yeah.

        • You mean the Palestinians that have been attacking Israelis and using their own children as human meat shields against any defense or retaliation? Yes, the Israeli army kills Palestinians, because Palestinians keep attacking them, and as far as I’m concerned, any soldier willing to defend his or her own people against those who attack is not by doing so a murder. Maybe, just maybe, if the Palestinians didn’t keep attacking Israelis, they wouldn’t have to worry about what the Israeli army does to them.

Again, I invite you: if you have any evidence to present of Ms. Gadot killing any non-combatant or committing any violation of the Geneva Convention or international rules of war, present them. If you cannot do so, you are blowing smoke, and your accusation is nonsense.

  6. Doug, if you want to see Wonder Woman’s mother actually make her out of clay on screen then watch the 2009 animated Wonder Woman movie.

  7. American politics are all wrong in Uncle Sam’s North America!Dudley Do Right’s Canada too.

  8. Actually I believe American Republican Conservatives are more rational these days than Democrat Liberals, good-hearted morally-balanced reasonably intelligent smart people like me should not have much problems or issues with this obviously great super-hero feature film. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman (Diana Prince Themyscira) reminds me of (even though I did not see this whole movie) and is closely on par with the made-up character in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit: There and Back Again (revised version), I’m talking the made-up character created by Pete or Peej Jackson or his wife Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, Evangeline Lilly’s Tauriel the She-Elf Warrior Super-Archer (like Legolas) with a huge heart of gold and maybe a bit of Joan of Arc. Okay most American Foreign and Domestic Policies (Politics) need to reform, to really change someday soon.

I don’t know about that first statement. As a conservative myself, I was actually highly disturbed by the irrational behavior I observed from certain GOP candidates and from Trump supporters in particular. What I saw this past year or so was much less thoughtful introspection and calculation, and a lot more rage. To that I say that, if Republicans really want to be able to think of themselves as the more rational of the two parties, they need to start acting more rational and less like a bunch of self-entitled babies. OF course, when I point this out to my fellow conservatives, I am generally accused of being a closet liberal, or I am wrongly psychoanalyzed of my own shortcomings. In short, while I might concede that certain conservative positions may be rationally demonstrable, I also find it rationally demonstrable that most modern conservatives are not rational. Which leaves me in a bind: how can I hold to positions I believe are rational if doing so means that I must be associated with decidedly irrational-acting people?

  9. Your longest Sibling Rivalry ever! It was certainly worth it! I agree this film is a masterpiece. I especially loved how there were no cameos from other characters. I’m surprised you didn’t mention that! Easily Zack Synder’s best work.

  10. So Logan gets this shitstorm but Captain DC gets praises ? Do you watch those movies anymore or is this just your current mood ?

  11. They didn’t show her being sculpted because it turned out that story wasn’t true, she was Zeus and Hippolyta’s literal daughter.

  12. How drunk do you think Doug and Rob were by the end?
